On May 18, the 110 kV Baimajing substation in Kunshan Hi-Tech Zone successfully delivered power, marking the completion of the power supporting project of Suzhou Metro Line 11. This inter-provincial subway line that runs directly from the center of Suzhou to the center of Shanghai has achieved full power supply.

The reporter learned that Suzhou Rail Transit Line 11 is 41.25 kilometers long and has 28 stations. It starts at Weiting Station in Suzhou Industrial Park, transfers to Suzhou Rail Transit Line 3, and ends at Huaqiao Station in Kunshan City, where it transfers to Shanghai Metro Line 11. Suzhou Rail Transit Line 11 is the first subway line in Jiangsu that seamlessly connects with Shanghai across provinces, the first subway line in Suzhou to Kunshan, and the first subway line in a county-level city in China that crosses the entire city. It has extremely important demonstration significance for enhancing the radiation capacity of the central urban areas of Suzhou and Kunshan, guiding the optimization of urban spatial layout, leading the construction of new urbanization, promoting the integrated layout of transportation, industry, and space, closely connecting with the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, actively connecting with Shanghai, actively integrating into Shanghai, and promoting the development of Shanghai-Suzhou integration. At present, the trial operation of Suzhou Rail Transit Line 11 is nearing completion. According to previous news, the line will be operated with passengers in the middle of this year.

As an important energy source for rail transit, State Grid Suzhou Power Supply Company started the construction of the power supporting project for Suzhou Rail Transit Line 11 in February 2022. The project includes two newly built 110 kV user-specific substations, Kunjia Road Substation and Baimajing Substation, and four 110 kV supporting transmission lines, with a total power supply capacity of 126 MVA. Among them, the 110 kV Kunjia Road Substation was put into operation in October 2022.

The Baimajing Substation put into operation this time is the 51st 110 kV user-specific substation in Kunshan. As one of the two major dedicated power sources of Suzhou Rail Transit Line 11, the station has newly built two 31.5 MVA main transformers and two 110 kV dual power supply lines. After the power of the substation is reduced in voltage, it is transmitted to various stations and sections through cables, providing stable and reliable power support for electric passenger car operation, subway ventilation and lighting, communication signals and other systems.

The power supporting project of Suzhou Rail Transit Line 11 has built a total of 19 kilometers of 110 kV transmission lines, which cross the Beijing-Shanghai Railway, Danyang-Kunming Bridge and Loujiang River twice, respectively. The construction is difficult and the construction period is long. In order to ensure the smooth progress of the project, the State Grid Suzhou Power Supply Company actively organized 43 construction workers, reversed the construction schedule, and worked continuously. At the same time, it increased resource investment and innovated management methods. It took 15 months to successfully complete all engineering construction, effectively ensuring the orderly progress of the rail transit project.

"By then, Suzhou people can take the subway directly to Shanghai Disneyland from their doorstep, and friends in Shanghai can also come to Kunshan to listen to Kunqu Opera, visit the ancient town, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and taste delicious food." said Ge Yulei, a representative of Suzhou Rail Transit Urban Line 1 Co., Ltd.
